Duties: The Center for Weight and Eating Disorders at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine seeks a Clinical Research Coordinator A. The candidate will help coordinate a Industry Sponsored Drug Trial. The study proposes a 52-week randomized controlled trial will compare three treatment groups: 1) CMS lifestyle counselling (CMS-Alone); 2) CMS lifestyle counselling plus liraglutide (i.e., CMS-Liraglutide), and 3) CMS-Liraglutide plus a 1000-1200 kcal/day portion-controlled diet (i.e., Multi-Component Intervention). This is the first evaluation of the CMS-recommended schedule of lifestyle counselling (14 sessions in 26 weeks, followed by monthly sessions in weeks 27-52) and the first assessment of the benefits of adding liraglutide 3.0 to the CMS counselling program. The study will also assess the benefits of adding a portion-controlled diet to the combination of CMS lifestyle counselling and liraglutide, with a goal of achieving a mean weight loss of 14% or more of initial weight, similar to losses our research team produced with the triple combination of high intensity lifestyle modification, sibutramine, and a portion-controlled diet

The CRC-A will coordinate subject screenings and study visits; coordinating regulatory paperwork, training as an assessor as back-up to our main study assessor; documenting and reporting adverse events; preparing study materials and ordering study specific supplies; ensuring protocol adherence & data quality; complete progress and data safety monitoring plan reports; maintaining study charts; and entering study data.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications: The minimum of a BA/BS and 1-3 years of clinical trial/clinical research experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience are required. Must be able to interact sensitively with patients seeking bariatric surgery. Effective problem solving, communication, and writing skills are required. Must be able to multi-task. Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team as well as independently. Knowledge of IRB and human research protection regulations.
