The Center for Complex Network Research (CCNR) at Northeastern University is seeking an individual to fulfill the role of Communications Specialist. This individual must have a strong interest in the sciences and its research. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for much of the communications and marketing that pertains to CCNR. This multifaceted position involves updating websites, social media content and assisting the Director in maintaining an active digital presence in social media outlets (such as Facebook, Meet-Up, Twitter, etc.). In addition, Communications Specialist will provide writing and copy-editing services for federal grant applications, journal submissions and other publications. Will be responsible for managing the editorial and journal library. Must have exceptional communication and organizational skills, be able to work independently in a flexible environment, and collaborate closely with others. This individual will need to interface effectively with diverse constituencies at all levels externally and internally, such as: various levels of the NEU community, University Administrators, faculty/researchers and students at partner universities and corporate sponsors.


Bachelors Degree or higher in English, Journalism or similar field required, with experience in technical writing/editing to diverse clientele. Ability to communicate effectively with global community and use various marketing channels. 3 5 years experience in communications or marketing preferred. Excellent written and grammatical skills required.

Strong ability in the following areas is required: HTML, content management systems, Microsoft Office, social media tools and techniques, and other web tools, as needed. Knowledge and understanding of Social Media platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Yelp, Google+, Local, YouTube, Instagram, and Pinterest.
