Visiting Professor of Economics
Position Summary: The Division of Accounting, Finance, MIS, and Economics in the College of Business at Governors State University seeks applications for a Visiting Professor in Economics beginning in August 2016. Visiting Professors will be appointed for a specific period of time, normally one to two years. This temporary faculty position's primary duties will emphasize teaching responsibilities but may also encourage research and community service activities. Although this position is not tenure-track and not a part of the faculty bargaining unit, it may be an ideal position for an ABD candidate to obtain significant teaching experience prior to going into the tenure track market. There may be the potential for this position to transition to a tenure track position. Governors State is especially interested in "growing our own" economics faculty to better serve our diverse student population. Governors State University is the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicagoas south suburban area, serving approximately 7,750 students annually. Minimum Qualifications: -ABD in Economics
Preferred Qualifications: -PhD in Economics -Documented record of teaching experience at the graduate and undergraduate levels. -Ability/Interest to teach online.
Work Schedule: This a 12-month appointment. Teaching expectation is 24 credit hours (8 courses) over the period. this would be a 3-3-2 teaching load (in number of courses each term)
