Minimum Qualifications
MLS/MLIS degree from an ALA-accredited program or foreign equivalent. Experience working with institutional repositories and/or scholarly communications issues. Experience with metadata creation, including XML-based and bibliographic standards (e.g. EAD, Dublin Core, MODS, METS, LCSH, MARC21, LC Classification, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with bibliographic consortia and shared bibliographic records. Experience with Islandora digital library platform. Experience planning and delivering workshops, presentations, or classes.

Appointment will be made at a faculty rank commensurate with the candidate's experience on a 12 month multi-year appointment.

Duties
Promotes the University's institutional repository and works closely with the Head of Archives, Special Collections and Digital Initiatives to create and implement a sustainable scholarly communications program. Educates and trains campus partners to collect, describe, and make accessible the university's intellectual assets. Develops tools, guides, web resources, and services. Creates metadata for institutional repository and digital collections. Provides outreach and consultations on depositing content, publishing options, author rights, copyright, and Open Access. Participates in faculty governance and engages in scholarly activity. Participates in assessment and continuous improvement of operations and services. Helps shape department policy, goals, and procedures. As members of the University's faculty, librarians are expected to participate in faculty governance and engage in scholarly activity. Some evening and week-end hours may be required.

Demonstrated knowledge of institutional repository trends and best practices. Demonstrated knowledge of the scholarly publishing landscape, including legal issues, Open Access, and author rights. Demonstrated experience with copyright in the academic setting. Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills and analytical ability. Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with diverse constituencies. Demonstrated ability to work on simultaneous workflows. Evidence of detailed data analysis and reporting skills. Evidence of successful project management skills.
