Responsibilities:

This is a one to three-year, benefits-eligible position to teach intellectual property law and lawyering skills and supervise the work of second and third legal law students in the IP CO-LAB clinic. The Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor's primary responsibility will be to oversee the operation of a student-led legal clinic, supervise the student's client development and the clinic's client in-take, to supervise students providing legal services to clients in the university community, and to oversee student and clinic collaboration and relationships with other participants in the university's innovation ecosystem. The Assistant/Associate Teaching Professor will also work with students and others who are applying for clinic certification by the US Patent and Trademark Office clinic or grant funding

Qualifications:

Applicants must hold a JD from an accredited institution, have 5 or more years of practice in a law firm serving individual, entrepreneur, early-stage venture, small business and media clients, have 10 or more years of experience advising such clients on acquisition, protection and exploitation of a range of rights of publicity and intellectual property assets (e.g., trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, patents), including licensing and other transactions, have substantial experience with trademark clearance and prosecution before the US Patent and Trademark Office during at least the past 5 years, and have a demonstrated capacity for teaching intellectual property and entertainment law and supervising law students providing legal services to innovators and entrepreneurs, including client development, collaboration and teamwork, legal research, writing, and lawyering skills. Candidates familiar with Clio, Corsearch and BlackBoard will be preferred as will candidates who have experience with university intellectual property policies and teaching using an experiential methodology.
