Position Summary: Governors State University invites applications for a full-time Director of International Services. The Director of International Services will lead and direct all aspects of GSUas international programs. This position reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Director provides leadership and direction to the International Services team in addition to the administrative and functional management of the programas activities and staff. The Office of International Services is responsible for processing international admissions applications, I-20s and other visa needs for international students, scholars, faculty and staff. The Director is responsible for understanding, developing, implementing and monitoring university policies and procedures as well as US government regulations and requirements. The Director works collaboratively with the Executive Director of Continuing Education and the Intensive ESL Program Director. The Director acts as a liaison to the academic colleges, library, student affairs, and business office. This position is also responsible for representing the university externally with governmental agencies, prospective funding agencies, partner institutions, and other relevant constituencies. Governors State University is the only regional, public, comprehensive university in Chicago's south suburban area, serving approximately 7,750 students annually. Minimum Qualifications: a¢U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent resident status as required by federal law to serve as Primary Designated School Official (PDSO) for the F-1 student program and Responsible Officer (RO) for the J-1 exchange visitor program. a¢Bachelor's degree in Education, International Studies/Business or related field from an accredited institution. a¢Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in international education with experience as a Designated School Official (DSO) a¢Knowledge of F-1 and J-1 visa requirements, SEVIS, FERPA, and international student support services. a¢Leadership of operations management, strategic planning capability and experience with international cultural exchange. a¢Demonstrated experience working with domestic and international students, faculty, university and college staff. a¢Strong organizational skills. a¢Strong written and oral communication skills. a¢Excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills; ability to complete multiple tasks and high volume of work; mature, professional attitude and appearance; openness to continuing learning and upgrading of skills. a¢Capacity to effectively collaborate and engage students, faculty, staff and administrators. a¢Ability to use data/student outcomes for informed decision making. a¢Proficiency in the SEVIS system, Colleague/Banner system (or similar transferable skill), Microsoft applications, databases, and other relevant software to carry out position duties.

Work Schedule: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a 60 minute (unpaid) lunch. This position will have scheduled evening hours for programs/advising throughout the year as well as periodic Saturday and Sunday obligations depending on international student, scholar and visitor needs.
