Position Summary: The Center for Gastrointestinal Biology and Disease (CGIBD) is the research department serving investigators who have an interest in digestive health research. While it is common among other departments and divisions of the Department of Medicine to have some sponsored research projects, the CGIBD and the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology are unique in that nearly every Faculty member has funded research projects and/or clinical trials. The goals and objectives for CGIBD are to promote research and collaboration in digestive health, to maintain a research-training program to equip researchers for future projects and to initiate and maintain outreach programs to serve the international digestive health research community. Additionally, CGIBD serves as a focus for solicitation for funds aimed at research and training in digestive health. Candidates will perform laboratory and research using stem cell isolation and culture, FACS of primary tissues, GI neuroendocrine physiology, Fludigm C1 single cell analysis techniques, qPCR genetic analysis, western blots, mouse colony management and genotyping. This will also involve a number of exercises and opportunities related to career development.

Education Requirements: PhD in biological science, preferably genetics, molecular biology, and/or cell biology.

Qualification and Experience: This position requires extensive knowledge using lab techniques such as FACS of primary tissues, protein analysis, GI neuroendocrine physiology, fludigm C1 single cell analysis techniques (RNAseq), qPCR genetic analysis, western blots, mouse colony management and genotyping. Candidates must have exceptional management, grant and manuscript writing abilities.
