Coordinator of Environmental Health and Safety

Position Summary: This position will provide leadership for an integrated team of staff, faculty and administrators from across the university working together to address campus and workplace environmental health and safety issues. The primary purpose of this position is the development, administration, management, and supervision of all campus environmental, occupational health and safety, and risk management programs, procedures and protocols, in order to achieve a healthy and safe work environment as well as compliance with the latest regulations, law codes and standards.
Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bacheloras degree in Environmental Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or closely related field. 2. Four (4) years of professional experience in environmental health and safety. 3. Management and administrative skills and experience. 4. Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA rules and regulations. 5. Working knowledge of Life Safety and NFPA Codes. 6. Working knowledge of emergency and hazard response procedures. 7. Ability to effectively communicate such codes, etc. to the University community within a complex local and state organizational framework. 8. Knowledgeable in the areas of risk management, insurance, and methods of risk reduction. 9. Must know how to conduct himself/herself in the field in various situations with various pieces of equipment and various groups.
Preferred Qualifications: 1. Master's degree in Environmental Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or closely related field. 2. Certifications in one or more areas of Environmental Health and Safety. 3. Willingness and ability to become certified in other relevant areas. 4. Working knowledge of Illinois Department of Labor policy and regulation.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
