Responsibilities:

The Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) is the lead role in a cross-functional team of developers, visual and UX designers and other members of the Integrated Student Learning Experience (ISLE) application design and development team at Northeastern University. The Lead Systems Engineer manages the design, development, integration, maintenance, and enhancements of the ISLE application features, functions, and data.

ISLE Application
ISLENortheastern University's newest campus-wide technological and educational initiativeis a mobile and web-based application as well as an infrastructure that will connect students with learning opportunities in and out of the classroom and members of the Northeastern community to strengthen and focus attention on learning across contexts. The systems engineer will be responsible for managing the people and processes related to the full range of system development and integration activities for the ISLE application. This includes managing the contracted vendor development and support processes during the initial phases and managing the in-house technical team through transition, integration and evolution of ISLE.

Key duties
- Serve as primary liaison with vendor and manage vendor contract through development and transition to ensure contract deliverables meet specified objectives and acceptance criteria within the timeline
- Manage an in-house team through ongoing design, development, testing and validation efforts for seamless functioning of ISLE
- Lead the planning and operations of development, maintenance, quality assurance, and customer support activities
- Serve as a key technical integration expert and liaison between the ISLE program and on-campus technical services that interact with ISLE, including:
- manage processes involved in integrating ISLE with various systems, services, and data warehouses on campus
- ensuring appropriate security validation and verification of the interfacing software between ISLE app and other databases on-campus
- identifying system upgrades and respective maintenance related to those upgrades
- creation of information flow guidelines through constant communication with other IT offices on campus
- systems and technology information liaison between ISLE app and other on-campus entities that interact with ISLE

Qualifications:

Masters degree in Computer Sciences, Information Technology, Engineering or fields strongly related to these areas. Bachelors degree will be considered for candidates with exceptional record of experience and commitment to systems integration and related services
6-8 years of experience in a Systems Engineering lead role dealing with multiple aspects of systems integration, engineering and development, such as enterprise integration, new technology integration in to existing systems, high-level knowledge on mobile and web-enabled software integration with multiple databases and data-related services and experience managing vendor contracts
Well-versed in Agile and scrum-based development methodologies
Technically persuasive with a strong understanding of software architecting processes and being able to effectively communicate complex ideas to stakeholders at all levels
Demonstrated ability to clearly define and communicate technical tasks, establish schedules and priorities, coordinate resources, form and lead technical teams
Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal; ability to clearly articulate complex messages to a variety of audiences
Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships
