Position Summary:
This position, in conjunction with the Executive Director and Dean of Continuing Education Workforce Development, is responsible for the implementation and management of a Texas Workforce Commission grant. The Coordinator is responsible for the successful execution of the Site-Based Workplace Literacy project which includes, but is not limited to, working with multiple departments of the college as well as community partners, and tracking and reporting project progress to the TWC Contract Manager.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Meet with the business office in review of expenditures
  • Manage workload and assignments of instructors
  • Meet with employers on progress of instruction
  • Generate reports for the TWC Contract Manager
  • Schedule courses/classes in the college management system, registering eligible trainees, and related oversight of the grant's activities as well as act as the business service representative
  • Meet with local businesses on the training described in the project and the benefits to the company and its eligible workers
  • Orient workers to the details of the project, the elements of each course and the expectations and values of completing the classes
  • Market the project through our local chambers of commerce, our economic development agencies and connect with interested businesses initially by phone, email or social media and then through visitation at their offices
  • Market the project through the Employer Services Division (ESD) of the Workforce Board and help Board staff with connecting with businesses interested in the project and with ESD through WIT and WOTC/HR training Board staff can provide
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Bachelors Degree from a regionally accredited institution
    Minimum of 3 years work experience in a related program
    Must have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization, from entry level employees to senior level management
    Must have a knowledge of grant management, including the ability to work directly with TWC
    Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with the community, staff, and faculty
    Must have the ability to connect with local business partners in order to successfully recruit participants as outlined in the grant contract
    Must have the ability to establish and maintain detailed records and reports relating to project deliverables through required program reporting tools
    Must be self-motivated; incumbent will be required to proceed with independent actions with mutually established guidelines and general supervision from the Executive Dean and Director of Continuing Education Workforce Development

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Two years or more in grant management experience in a higher education institution
