Job Description:

The Department of Pathology, Immunology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine invites applications for a tenure track physician scientist position. The candidate is expected to lead a research program in cancer biology, have a track record of sustained research grant support, and have made significant scientific contributions to the field. The candidate will join several other newly recruited cancer researchers as part of the UF Cancer Center Preeminence Program.

Candidates should currently hold a tenured appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level at their institution, must have an M.D. degree or M.D./ Ph.D. degrees, be board-certified in Anatomic Pathology or AP/CP, and possess, or be eligible for, a Florida Medical License. Candidates with clinical/research fellowship training in GI/Liver pathology are preferred, but other subspecialists are encouraged to apply. The major assignment will be in research, but the candidate is also expected to participate in clinical service and teaching efforts that are negotiable. The department has substantial resources that will be committed to the successful candidate including an endowed chair, substantial start up funds, and large laboratory that will be renovated to the candidate's specification.

The department is composed of approximately 80 faculty members, 28 specializing in experimental pathology, and is ranked in the top 10 in NIH funding amongst public university departments of pathology in the US. The department's faculty play a leadership role in the UF CTSA Biorespository, metabolomics cores, and iPS core lab. In addition, the department has developed clinical genomic and metabolomics laboratories. Florida, now the third largest state, provides substantial racial and ethnic diversity and coordinated state-wide research opportunities through the CTSA. The University of Florida Health System, affiliated institutions, and the UF Cancer Center present a rich diversity of inpatient and outpatient clinical material, clinical trials, and cutting edge clinical care. Finally, UF has established highly successful entrepreneurial resources to aid investigators in commercialization of scientific discoveries.
