Hudson Valley Community College

About Hudson Valley Community College

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College is one of the largest and most comprehensive institutions in the SUNY system. Each year, more than 20,000 students pursue their goals through 80+ degree and certificate programs, hundreds of workforce training opportunities, and a wide range of personal enrichment classes.

The college is recognized for excellence and innovation in teaching, career training, and student support. Small classes, extensive learning resources, and targeted retention efforts reflect a strong commitment to student success, diversity, and equity—particularly for historically underserved communities.

Hudson Valley remains responsive to both student aspirations and regional workforce needs, continuously adapting programs and expanding transfer agreements with four-year institutions. It is a leader in engineering, technology, skilled trades, and healthcare programs, while also offering strong liberal arts, business, computer science, criminal justice, education, and human services pathways.

Students benefit from a vibrant campus experience with extracurricular offerings that rival many four-year colleges. The 120-acre campus features state-of-the-art facilities across more than 20 buildings, alongside branch locations at HVCC North in Malta, HVCC South at the Capital South Campus Center, and the Aeronautical Technology Institute at Albany International Airport.

The college also sponsors the Capital District Educational Opportunity Center, providing free career training and academic preparation for qualified students, and partners with over 30 high schools to deliver dual enrollment opportunities.

With more than 90,000 alumni—most living and working in the Capital Region—Hudson Valley continues to shape futures and strengthen communities.
