At the University of Central Florida, bigger is better. Because being big means:

  • Access — Providing more opportunities to people of any age who might not otherwise have access to earn a high-quality college degree
  • Innovation — Attracting thought leaders from around the world to conduct innovative research and scholarship on our campuses
  • Impact — Creating a positive, lasting impact on the Central Florida community and the world beyond

Big for a Reason

UCF is an emerging preeminent research university located in metropolitan Orlando. With more than 66,000 students, UCF is one of the largest universities in the U.S. In addition to its impressive size and strength, UCF is ranked as a best-value university by Kiplinger’s, as well as one of the nation’s most affordable colleges by Forbes. The university benefits from a diverse faculty and staff who create a welcoming environment and opportunities for all students to grow, learn and succeed.

Founded in 1963, UCF and its 13 colleges offer more than 200 degrees from UCF’s main campus, hospitality campus, health sciences campus, 11 regional locations and online programs. It has more than 12,000 employees and an operating budget of $1.5 billion. The Washington Post has showcased how UCF is set to “demolish the popular belief that exclusivity is a virtue in higher education” thanks to the success of our mission of increasing access to high-quality education.

We’re Dedicated to Faculty Success

One of UCF’s priorities is to strengthen its faculty by adding world-class researchers and scholars, and ensuring the success of each member in the classroom, the research lab and beyond. From teaching technologies and professional development to research mentoring and work-life balance, UCF faculty are supported in every aspect of their careers through a variety of offices and centers designed to help them achieve more.

UCF is an academic, partnership and research leader in numerous fields, including optics, modeling and simulation, engineering, computer science, business administration, education, biomedical sciences, hospitality management and digital media. UCF’s Faculty Cluster Initiative fosters the development of interdisciplinary teams focused on solving today’s most challenging scientific and societal challenges. Nine clusters have been created in fields as diverse as sustainable coastal systems, renewable energy, prosthetic interfaces and cyber security.

In 2016-17, UCF faculty received $148.7 million in research funding and have accrued more than $1 billion in external grants during the past decade. Distinctive programs extend learning beyond the classroom and include leadership programs, cooperative education, mentorships, internships, service learning and paid research positions.

Why join UCF?

Orlando is one of the fastest-growing major metropolitan regions in America (U.S. Census Bureau) and will add more than 500,000 new residents by 2026. The city was named No. 1 in the U.S. for job growth for 2015 by the U.S. Department of Labor. And it has become a hub for the life sciences, medical innovation and technological developments. That’s why Orlando ranked No. 4 on Forbes’ 2015 best cities for future job growth and No. 13 for fastest-growing cities in the U.S. And it’s why Fast Company magazine has included Orlando in its list of “Best Cities for Innovation.” Plus, the warm sunshine and pleasant climate create a perfect environment in which to live, work and explore.UCF area
