Built on a foundation that emphasizes connections, our academic program is distinctive for its integrated, multi-disciplinary approach to general education and for its innovative academic majors. From first-year experiences in our Connections curricula to senior-year seminars and capstone projects, our academic program immerses students in real-world complexities that develop the habits of mind and heart required to negotiate these complexities with success.

Located in Northern Wisconsin, next to Lake Superior and nearly one million acres of the Chequamegon National Forest, Northland College provides unique experiential learning opportunities that can't be offered elsewhere. Northland College is Visionary by Nature.

The Princeton Review named Northland College and 17 others to its "2011 Green Rating Honor Roll" - a list of colleges that received the

highest possible score (99) in its Green Rating tallies this year. Northland has two wind towers, numerous solar panels, geothermal heat in the campus center and library, and furniture made from recycled materials. Students have even built a campus building that is entirely off the grid, using locally-produced materials.

The prestigious U.S. News & World Report has named its Best National Liberal Arts Colleges of 2011. Of these competitive schools, Northland College was ranked into the first tier. Northland was part of 266 national liberal arts colleges to be recognized. To qualify, each liberal arts institution must emphasize undergraduate education and award at least 50 percent of their degrees in the liberal arts.
