Fort Valley State University believes in excellence in academics, teaching and research. Since 1895, its faculty and staff have been committed to changing the lives of ordinary individuals with extraordinary purpose and passion by producing well-rounded students and scholars. As a proud public institution within the University System of Georgia, Fort Valley State boasts an enrollment of nearly 3,000 students. FVSU is the perfect size for building lifelong connections that reach beyond culture and background—connections that are based on a shared love of learning and a thirst for personal growth.

The beautiful campus is located on 1,365 acres in picturesque Fort Valley, Georgia – the peach capitol of the world. With small class sizes, an affordable tuition rate, relevant course offerings, accessible professors and administrators, FVSU is a place of exciting change and growth, and is in close proximity to Georgia cities such as Atlanta, Columbus, Augusta, Albany, Savannah and Valdosta.

FVSU is a fully accredited, comprehensive, four-year institution committed to providing strong academic programs, online courses and extracurricular activities to students. More than 70 student organizations that range from sororities and fraternities to honor societies and student government keep the campus buzzing with activities year round.

The university is one of Georgia’s two land-grant institutions and one of the state’s eight historically black colleges and universities. FVSU has the only certified four-year veterinary technology program in the state. The institution also boasts the Cooperative Developmental Energy Program (CDEP), a program that teams with major oil and energy companies across the nation to launch the careers of minorities and women in the industry. CDEP, the only program of its kind in the nation, offers dual degrees in math, engineering, chemistry, biology, health physics and geoscience.

For the academically motivated student, Fort Valley State also has other programs for  high achievers, including the Undergraduate Research Program and the Honors Program.

FVSU is a leading contender in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II in both men’s and women’s athletic programs. Wildcat football, basketball, tennis, track, volleyball, cross country track and softball are among the 11 sports offered. The Health and Physical Education Complex, the site of sports events and memorable special activities, is rated among the finest in the conference and is equipped with an Olympic-size swimming pool, weight room and indoor track.
