<p>Nestled in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains, Dalton State College offers a number of high-demand bachelor's degrees in addition to associate and career degree programs. Dalton State is located in the city of Dalton, known as the center of the nation's carpet manufacturing industry. The campus is situated in a beautiful and well-maintained setting on 141 acres. The newest addition to the college is Peeples Hall, a 58,000 square foot classroom/laboratory building named for Shelby and Willena Peeples<img alt="dalton_state_college1.jpg" src="http://www.insidehighered.com/careers/styles/medium/public/images/institution_profile/uploads/dalton_state_college1.jpg" style="margin: 5px; float: right;" typeof="foaf:Image" />.</p> <p>With almost 5,000 traditional and non-traditional residential and commuter students at Dalton State come from a 12-county service area and 40 foreign countries. The average student age is 24, and females comprise 60 percent of the student population. Dalton State College students may choose from eighteen bachelor's degree programs offered through the schools of Business, Education, Health Professions, Liberal Arts, and Science, Technology and Mathematics. The College also offers 19 associate's degrees.</p> <p><img alt="dalton_state_college2.jpg" src="http://www.insidehighered.com/careers/styles/medium/public/images/institution_profile/uploads/dalton_state_college2.jpg" style="margin: 5px; float: left;" typeof="foaf:Image" />The College’s convenient location near Interstate 75 makes it a desirable institution for students from throughout the northwest sector of Georgia. The campus is within easy reach of wilderness areas, trout streams, hiking trails and state parks in North Georgia and East Tennessee.</p> <p>With 85 percent working full or part-time, students may schedule classes during the day, evening and on weekends to accommodate their work schedules. Even with the demands of school and work, many students find time to participate in the college's extracurricular offerings. A full program of co-curricular activities includes more than 25 student organizations, a student government association and intramurals. The newly-renovated Bandy Gymnasium features a new Fitness Center, a heated indoor pool, basketball courts and a weight room.
