From its legacy as an agricultural college formed soon after the turn of the 20th Century to its evolution as an academic institution focused on applied technology, ground-breaking research, and economic development, Farmingdale plays a critical role not just in teaching its students, but in shaping them. The results are graduates who prepared for success, future leaders who are gifted and resourceful, and a regional workforce superbly trained to adapt to an ever-changing world.

As it approaches the celebration of its 100th anniversary, and its 15th anniversary as a four-year, baccalaureate institution, the College offers 37 degree programs in areas as diverse as Bioscience, Aeronautical Science, Business Management, Applied Economics, Graphic Design and Electrical Engineering Technology. In fact, Farmingdale State has flourished to become one of the most important centers of learning and research in the Long Island region.

A coeducational, public college with almost 7,000 undergraduate students, including about 500 resident students, Farmingdale State is located on 380 lush acres in the heart of Long Island, approximately 45 minutes from New York City. Since its transition to a technology college in the 1980s, the campus has focused on preparing students for careers in the workplace through its Schools of Business, Arts and Sciences, Engineering Technology, and Health Sciences. Technology is integrated into the coursework so students are provided cutting-edge instructional techniques that make them attractive recruits for public and private industries. As part of the State University of New York, Farmingdale State also furnishes the opportunity for a quality education that is affordable.
