University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire & Diversity
Published: Feb 23, 2018
As a public institution, UW-Eau Claire serves the common good by providing an equitable education for all students. Given that charge, we have a moral obligation to work for and uphold social justice and to remedy the disparities created by inherited power and privilege. When we do these things well, all students thrive.
We live our commitment to equitable education by fostering a diverse campus that serves the community in which we live. As our state, region and community become increasingly diverse, we must ensure that our campus supports — and that our campus population reflects — the diversity of the areas we serve.
- Our strategic plans, including our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity Plan, are designed to move faculty and staff across campus to undertake specific, sustained actions to eliminate the opportunity gap and transform our campus climate.
- Through our Division of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusivity, students and faculty will find services and programs aimed at providing support, information, assistance and leadership for bringing equity and inclusion for all campus demographics. We work to create a more welcoming and inclusive environment, increase the cultural competencies of the university community, and advance institutional goals of recruiting and retaining under-represented students, faculty, and staff.
