Xavier University is seeking applications for the part-time position of Instructional Design Coordinator in Discovery Services. This position reports to the Associate Director for Training and Online Learning.

The Instructional Design Coordinator, as a member of the department’s Training and Online Learning team, contributes to team activities as a content designer and trainer. In partnership with colleagues and faculty members, the Instructional Design Coordinator plans and manages instructional design projects for traditional and online learning environments and supports Information Resources projects and cross-divisional initiatives by providing assistance with the design, development, implementation, and support of instructional materials.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assist with the promotion and support of online learning initiatives, including: provide training on relevant online learning technologies; research online learning technologies, delivery methods, and assessment strategies; assist with the planning of Discovery Services Online Learning support models; assist with translation of general principles of learning and instruction into multimedia-enhanced instructional materials; provide faculty with course redesign assistance including the development of assessment strategies; consult with faculty to establish a plan for online instruction; assist with the integration of technology resources and instructional multimedia; and coordinate marketing strategies to promote instructional design and online learning assistance opportunities for Xavier’s faculty.
• Assist in academic program promotion and the instructional design process through the provision of a wide range of instructional design services for faculty and students, including: create custom digital animations and interactive modules; create custom presentation materials; create custom wikis and blogs; create custom electronic portfolios; provide in-class training for students on design processes to enhance the professionalism of projects and presentations; assist with plotter poster printing services; and train student workers to help support instructional design needs.
• Provide assistance in the development and delivery of design-related training sessions and materials for faculty, staff and students, including: provide instruction in various environments including the classroom, formal workshops, impromptu troubleshooting, seminars, and one-on-one sessions; develop relevant training and support materials including handouts, screen-capture videos, and interactive modules; develop, maintain and update workshop registration forms; and assist in planning new training initiatives alongside the rest of the Discovery Services Training & Online Learning team, specifically with regard to instructional design and online learning.

Required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, technology, or instructional design; three years’ experience in instructional design; two years’ relevant experience associated with online learning management systems and distance education software; experience in the design and development of web based instructional design materials; a broad knowledge of software applications, particularly those related to online learning; advanced competencies with a wide variety of administrative software applications, including the MS Office Suite; excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences; proven technical writing skills, including system documentation and technical requirements; solid understanding of IT concepts and an appreciation of the role of IT in supporting academic, administrative, and service operations; extensive experience with computers (both MAC and PC platforms preferred); and the ability to effectively manage and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred qualifications:
Master’s degree in instructional design; experience providing instructional design guidance to faculty; experience with, Blackboard 9.1, Wimba, and the Campus Pack tools.

Preferred work schedule:
Mondays, Tuesdays and alternating Wednesdays.
