The successful candidate for the Financial Aid Counselor/Default Prevention Coordinator position will serve as a liaison between the Unit of Financial Aid and other campus departments, parents and outside agencies such as lenders, servicers, guaranty agencies, and the Department of Education; render decisions and oversee processes requiring initiative and judgment in responding to the individual needs of the students; develop the information needed to prepare reports required for financial aid programs; and council and advise students about their financial options and responsibilities. The Financial Aid/Default Prevention Coordinator will coordinate pre-claim assistance efforts such as telephone and letter campaigns and conduct entrance and exit loan counseling.
The candidates for this position will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field and a minimum of two to three years of student financial aid and administrative experience are preferred. Candidates must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills; be proficient in various word processing and software programs such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel and have demonstrated the ability to plan, organize and accomplish goals. This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid.
