Dir School Of Social Work
Major Duties: Western Michigan University invites applications for the position of Director of the School of Social Work. The director is the school's chief academic and executive officer and reports to and advises the dean regarding the school. This is a fiscal-year position with a starting date of July 1, 2013. The director will hold tenure and faculty rank.
The director promotes shared governance and provides leadership to:
- Fostering a collegial and collaborative environment within the School, the University and the broader community
- Communicating effectively with multiple constituencies
- Administering school operations: including preparing and monitoring budgets and pursuing external funding; allocating resources and assigning school responsibilities equitably; and identifying and supporting development opportunities
- Identifying and supporting faculty development in teaching and learning
- Working productively and collaboratively in the context of a faculty union
- Promoting and supporting inclusive diversity
- Encouraging faculty research activities and grant applications
- Recruiting high quality faculty to enhance program strength and quality
- Promoting social justice in ideals, in organizational values, and in action
Minimum Qualifications: - An M.S.W. degree and doctorate in social work or a related
Discipline
- Substantial experience in social work education
- Two or more years of post-M.S.W. social work practice
- A demonstrated record of academic leadership
- Evidence of administrative experience
- Academic rank qualifying for professor with tenure
- Demonstrable skill in teaching, research, and service
- Social work license or license eligibility
