Associate Provost for D.H. Haenicke Institute for Global Education
Major Duties: - Promote a culture that contributes to the University's global strategy and agenda.
- Foster constructive intercollegiate partnerships and programs that advance the strategic plans of the Haenicke Institute and the University.
- Enhance the global image and reputation of WMU's programs.
- Develop and promote broad involvement in WMU's international activities within the University and local community.
- Participate in creating and implementing a comprehensive University enrollment management strategy which achieves a higher diversification of the WMU student body.
- Establish and maintain best practices for international enrollment management (admission, recruitment, retention, graduation).
- Engage in the University's international development and alumni affairs activities.
- Promote initiatives within and outside WMU that advance its scholarly mission.
- Develop and manage academic, educational and commercial agreements which enhance the global engagement of WMU.
- Oversee campus visits of guests, dignitaries and public figures from international locations.
- Provide leadership and supervision to all designated HIGE departments, centers and institutes.
- Enhance institutional support for international students throughout their experience at WMU.
- Provide leadership for the assessment and continuous improvement of organizational performance.
- Foster faculty development of curricula with strong international components.
- In collaboration with the Faculty Senate International Education Council, develop, implement, and monitor initiatives to achieve the University's strategic goal of being globally engaged.
- Develop proactive strategies to encourage WMU students to pursue a global education, participate in study or work abroad programs, interact in meaningful ways with international students and participate in global activities on campus and in the community.
Minimum Qualifications: - An earned terminal degree in an academic or professional field.
- Professional career activities demonstrating the highest ethical standards.
- Record of distinguished professional accomplishment and demonstrated intellectual leadership.
- Record of dynamic, culturally-sensitive leadership with strong interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in both English and at least one additional language.
- Demonstrated ability to attract and build an exceptional team of professionals and form collaborative relationships in an atmosphere of shared governance.
- Demonstrated skill in decision-making, problem-solving, advocacy, team-building and delegation.
- A successful record of administrative experience, including the management of a complex budget and organization.
- Proven fund-raising ability.
- Demonstrated leadership in fostering diversity and inclusion.
- Excellent analytical, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills that are adaptable to diverse audiences.
- Proven success in or aptitude for alumni relations.
- Proven success in or aptitude for a service orientation. toward the university community and its constituencies.
