QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate for this position will have:
- a Bachelor's degree from a fully accredited university (in computer science or related field preferred), or an equivalent level of training, knowledge, and experience
- Significant experience in Microsoft Windows systems administration in an enterprise class or large University wide environment
- significant Microsoft Windows experience with planning, design, implementation, and support at the server and desktop including Microsoft Server 2003/2008 and Microsoft Windows XP and/or Microsoft Windows 7
- experience with VMware Data Center environment
- experience with backup and disaster recovery procedures
- experience with Symantec End-Point Protection (client and server) or equivalent
- programming and scripting skills
- experience troubleshooting at the server, network, and desktop levels
- strong problem solving and analytical skills and a demonstrated ability to address complex problems logically and systematically
- ability to work closely with a team of other specialists to provide computing solutions
- excellent speaking and writing skills for communicating with both technical and non-technical staff and constituents.
The successful candidate will be required to successfully pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: preferred that the successful candidate will have experience and/or knowledge of the following:
- databases (Oracle, MS SQL, FileMaker, MySQL, MS Access, MS Excel, etc.)
- LDAP, Open Directory, Apple integration, ARD, CAS, DNS, DHCP
- Cisco VoIP, ACS
- F5 Big IP LTM
- experience with VMware Data Center environment
- enterprise storage (Fiber Channel, iSCSI, SAS, NTFS, ZFS, etc.)
- web content management systems, Intranet web portal
- certifications (Cisco CCENT or CCNA, GIAC Certified Microsoft Windows Security Administrator (GCWN), MCITP or MCSE preferably with a security specialization, etc.)
- Microsoft Windows PowerShell, WSH, VBscript
- deploying and running Microsoft WSUS, SCOM, SCCM
- Symantec End-Point Protection (client and server) or equivalent, multi-platform multi-server virus protection
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position will perform Microsoft Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and desktop design functions; manage VMWare Data Center virtualization environments, including business continuity and disaster recovery functions; design, perform, and document Microsoft Server and Desktop security functions; perform server programming and scripting; manage file server backups; assist as needed on various projects and support issues; and provide Tier 2 and 3 support for the technology support center.
