Assistant Professor of Political Science within the Social Sciences and Public Administration Department in the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences. Position is 9-mo, full-time, tenure-track, and benefits eligible.

West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), a regional four-year campus and division of West Virginia University, located in Montgomery, WV, invites applications for the following employment opportunity:

Assistant Professor of Political Science within the Social Sciences and Public Administration Department in the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences. Position is 9-mo, full-time, tenure-track, and benefits eligible.

Qualifications: A PhD in Political Science or ABD with completion by December 31, 2012. Desirable attributes include experience in at least two of the following: criminal justice, public service administration, constitutional law, and labor relations. Requirements for the position include evidence of effective teaching in political science courses at a college level in an accredited institution of higher education, knowledge of web course delivery, excellent oral and written communication skills, a commitment to student advising and mentoring, and potential for scholarly research.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses primarily in political science, including American federal government, state and local government, constitutional law, criminology, public administration, comparative government, and other related courses as needed. Additional responsibilities include student advising, committee assignments, participation in professional development activities, recruiting, attending regularly scheduled faculty and departmental meetings, and performing other duties associated with a faculty position.

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications. Position is effective August 16, 2012. Review of applications begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
