Washington & Jefferson College (W&J), a selective private liberal arts and sciences college just south of Pittsburgh, invites applications for the position of Vice President for Enrollment. This position, which reports to the President of the College and is part of the President’s cabinet, is responsible for overseeing and guiding the operations of the Offices of Admissions and Financial Aid. These departments coordinate the recruitment of undergraduate students through diversified marketing, personal attention, and excellence in all services provided to prospective students and their families. The new Vice President for Enrollment will be charged with devising a data-driven strategic plan for admissions and financial aid, creating an appropriate communications stream (utilizing all media) for prospective applicants and their influencers, overseeing effective campus visitation programs, collaborating with the Vice President for Student Life and the Vice President for Academic Affairs to sustain high retention rates, and collaborating with others across campus to ensure that the college website is a robust marketing tool. The Vice President for Enrollment will play a key role within the College community, working closely with the other vice presidents and the larger W&J community to support the College vision and mission and achieve college-wide goals.
THE COLLEGE: Washington & Jefferson is the 11th oldest college in the country and ranked #1 per capita for producing future attorneys and #3 for future physicians and medical researchers. QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates for the position should have experience working with enrollment management models and strategies that have resulted in enrollment growth and that have contributed significantly to institutional quality and student success. The successful candidate will have a record of at least ten years of exceptionally successful leadership at a senior level in enrollment management, documented evidence of successfully implemented recruitment strategies for both domestic and international students, strong professional ethics, and a commitment to the mission of a liberal arts college. • excellent writing and speaking skills
• academic and emotional intelligence
• an entrepreneurial spirit
• a collaborative leadership style
• the ability to work with culturally diverse populations
• familiarity with national trends in enrollment
• experience managing large budgets
• knowledge of regulations and compliance issues in admissions and financial aid
• comfort and experience with current communications media
• the ability to make data-driven decisions
Bachelor’s degree required, advanced degree preferred. Experience in a liberal arts college environment is highly preferable. Experience with Ellucian Colleague is also desirable.
