Summary of Duties: Under the direction of the Developmental Mathematics Department Chair, the Lecturer will provide high quality teaching of developmental mathematics courses, and be responsible for providing services to department, college, and university committees as assigned.

Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:

Teaching:
-Teach developmental mathematics (Pre- Algebra through Intermediate Algebra) under administrative direction using a variety of delivery methods including hybrid and online instruction.
-Plan, prepare and follow an approved course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught.
-Prepare instructional materials including course syllabi, instructional aids, and tests.
-Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groups in regular classrooms and/or computerized classrooms through lectures, discussions, conferences, demonstrations, individualized instruction and other appropriate methods.
-Evaluate student learning and utilize accepted assessment strategies in evaluating learning.
-Maintain a student-centered approach to education
-Maintain and submit records of students' accountability and performance.
-Provide an open, discrimination free classroom environment.
-Gather and analyze student outcomes data.

Service:
-Attend and contribute in faculty and other meetings.
-Serve on committees as assigned
-Work with colleagues to accomplish common goals.
-Develop mathematics curriculum and teaching strategies as needed.
-Assist in advisement, placement, and follow-up progression of students.

Scholarship:
Improve professionally and stay current in developmental mathematics and developmental education.

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited institution with an earned master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Statistics, or Mathematics related field, preferably with 18 semester hours of graduate level mathematics.

Preferred: An earned doctorate in Instructional Science or Education (e.g., educational measurement and evaluation).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: -Ability to effectively teach developmental math students using a variety of instructional modes and acknowledged best practices in the discipline.
-Ability to communicate both written and orally in English.
-Ability to use effective, student-centered instructional strategies and techniques which include engaged learning, and a blend of traditional instruction and on-line learning.
-Ability to manage, motivate and evaluate students.
-Effective interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills.
-Ability to use computer hardware and software.

Preferred:
-Classroom teaching experience in Developmental Mathematics.
-Ability to use multimedia hardware and software in classroom teaching.
-Experience with statistical analyses.
-Experience with educational measurement, program evaluation, and student learning outcomes assessment.
-Experience in creating, implementing, and leading developmental mathematics programs to strengthen student success.
