Counselors/Tutors - Summer
Utah Valley University is a student centered teaching institution dedicated to building communities of engaged learners. UVU is located in Orem, Utah with satellite campuses in Wasatch County, and at the Provo Airport.
Summary of Duties: Under the direction of the Director, has responsibility of residing with 4-6 youth in dorms during the summer months (May-June), supervising residents hall, study sessions, attending staff meeting and morning assemblies.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
?Oversees student committees, and accompanying youth on 3-day trips.
?Supervises students in dorms.
?Teaches workshops twice a week as well as track student's progress and class attendance.
?Ensuring safety of the students in their dorms and field trips.Taking initiative in the summer program.
?Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation with a high school diploma or GED, and a minimum of two years of college education.
-Must also have a current drivers license. Transcripts required to verify education.
Positions are required to live on site in male/female housing facilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: ?Knowledge of conducting workshops for high school students in survival skills / college life.
?Knowledge of policies and procedures in safety and ethical behavior.
?Records maintenance skills.
?Skills in interpersonal, problem-solving and decision making.
?Skill in using basic office equipment.
?Ability to communicate orally and in writing with a diverse group.
?Ability to travel.
