University of Wollongong

United States

The University of Wollongong was incorporated as an independent institution in 1975. Since its inception, the University has grown from a provincial feeder college with 300 students to an international university with over 18,000 students spread across three camuniversity_of_wollongong1.jpgpuses and five access centres.

The University offers a wide range of courses across nine faculties - Arts, Education, Health & Behavioural Sciences, Engineering, Law, Science, Informatics, Commerce and Creative Arts. These faculties incorporate 40 teaching units with some 760 members of academic staff and 1,600 staff overall.

Since its foundation, the University has conferred more than 52,000 degrees, diplomas and certificates. Its student population, originally drawn predouniversity_of_wollongong2.jpgminantly from the local Illawarra region, is now comprised of students from over 70 countries with international students accounting for more than 30 percent of total enrolments.

Our students know about our international standing - we have twice been named as the Good Universities Guide Australian University of the Year. We have earned these awards through outstanding research anduniversity_of_wollongong3.jpg development partnerships and also for leading the way in preparing our students for the e-world.

For our staff, the University offers a way of life as well as a dynamic place of employment. You'll find everything you need right here on campus including a bank, bookshop, a retail outlet, post office, medical centre, travel agency, recreation and aquatic centre, an award winning bar and a hairdresser.

The University could not have won such a level of recognition without having high calibre staff. We pride ourselves for being a University of innovation, and in turn, we look for innovation in our staff.
