The Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto invites applications from outstanding scholars for a tenure-stream appointment in Critical Care Nursing. The successful candidate will also be appointed to the TD Professorship in Critical Care Nursing Research based at the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (SHSC) for a five-year term. The appointment will be at the rank of Associate or Full Professor and will commence May 1, 2014 or shortly thereafter.
The Professorship holder will develop a new and innovative program of research in critical care nursing research spanning the University of Toronto's Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing and SHSC - a fully affiliated teaching hospital of the University of Toronto. The Professorship allows for a true integration across research, education and practice, at the BScN, Masters, PhD and Post-doctoral levels, and supports the continuing education and development of critical care nurses and allied health professionals at SHSC. The aim is to create an environment for continued and future excellence in critical care nursing that embraces inter-professional care. The position is complimented and strengthened by nine research Chairs in the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, creating multi-disciplinary depth.
The holder of the TD Professorship in Critical Care Nursing Research will provide leadership in nursing research and mentor students and professional staff to acquire clinical expertise in critical care clinically focused research. The ability to build partnerships with a wide variety of stakeholders and to provide national and international leadership in the field of critical care is essential. The successful candidate will assume a leadership role in the Faculty in the field of critical care nursing and contribute to teaching across all program levels.
Candidates will hold a doctorate in nursing or related discipline and be eligible for licensure as a registered nurse in Ontario. Credentials as a clinical nurse scholar, and a PhD with a focus on critical care nursing, are essential. Evidence of excellence in teaching and research is required. Salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
