Job Description The University Libraries seek an energetic, innovative librarian to provide leadership and expertise for the assessment activities of the Libraries. The successful candidate will maintain a successful and sustainable assessment program and will move the program into new and innovative areas. This position reports to the Director of Administrative Services. This is a full-time, twelve-month, unclassified, tenure-track, faculty status position with the rank of Librarian. SLED background check is required.

The University of South Carolina, founded in 1801, enrolls approximately 23,300 undergraduate students and 6,400 graduate students on the Columbia campus. University Libraries contains more than 3.5 million volumes, 1 million manuscripts, 325,000 maps, and 944,000 government documents; and houses the University's special collections. University Libraries is a member of LYRASIS, OCLC, the Association of Research Libraries, and the Center for Research Libraries.

Responsibilities: The Assessment Librarian plans, designs, develops, facilitates, and implements various library assessments. The Assessment Librarian also provides guidance to Library staff wishing to conduct assessments and is responsible for approving assessment activities involving faculty, students, or staff. This position is responsible for recommending quantitative and qualitative assessment protocols, managing data collection, statistical analysis and reporting, and coordinating assessment data centralization. Duties include responding to statistical requests, designing assessment instruments (such as surveys), and measuring user satisfaction and learning outcomes, engaging in usability studies and collection assessment, and evaluating library services.

Minimum Qualifications Required: Master's degree from an ALA accredited library school; effective oral and written communication skills; ability to work successfully with colleagues and staff; experience working in academic libraries. Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications: outstanding analytical skills; project leadership experience in a team-oriented environment; familiarity with assessment software and statistical tools; and current knowledge of assessment issues/trends for academic libraries.
