Job Description The School of Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management (HRTM) in the College of Hospitality, Retail and Sport Management (HRSM) seeks applications and nominations in Lodging Management at the Assistant/Associate Professor rank. The school serves over 700 students, 400 minors, 30 master's students and a new Ph.D. program. It employs 15 full-time faculty and a number of distinguished adjunct faculty.
With internationally known destinations such as Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Hilton Head Island, and Kiawah Island, the lodging industry contributes significantly to South Carolina's economy. Tourism is the number one industry in South Carolina and this provides a rich opportunity for industry partnerships and research prospects.
Successful candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, demonstrate an active, innovative, applied research agenda; identify and seek external funding to support research and graduate students and provide service that is beneficial to the school, college, and university.
Candidates will be responsible for developing and fostering relationships with hospitality and lodging sectors of the economy. It is expected that these relationships will lead to research and professional opportunities for students and HRTM faculty. Candidates must be student-oriented and possess strong leadership skills conducive to building premier undergraduate and graduate programs in HRTM. Minimum Qualifications Industry and academic expertise in hospitality management with a focus in the area of lodging management.
Ph.D. in hospitality management, tourism management, or related disciplines by start date of August 16, 2013. Preferred Qualifications Additional consideration will be given to candidates with expertise in the fields of private club management and meeting and convention management.
