Job Summary:

The Master’s in International Studies (MAIS) Program at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a two-semester term position (non-renewable) at the Assistant Professor level beginning in August 2012.

Job Responsibilities:

Preference will be given to a candidate who will be able to teach courses on globalization at both the graduate and undergraduate level. The candidate should be conversant with theoretical debates on the restructuring of time, space and scale. He/she should be able to apply this theoretical knowledge to contemporary questions about the nature of the state, city, economy, sovereignty, citizenship and migration/forced migration. The candidate should have in-depth knowledge about how such dynamics affect at least one region of the world including: Africa, Middle East, Asia, Latin America or Europe. Strong consideration will also be given to candidates whose research interests fall in the areas of human rights, development, or peace and conflict studies.


Normal teaching load for term positions is three (4-unit) courses per semester. Term positions come with full-time pay and benefits.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD earned by August 1, 2012, evidence of outstanding teaching ability at the university level, evidence of scholarship, and an understanding of and commitment to support the mission of the University are required.
