Duties Reporting to the Director of Corporate Contracts and Alliances, the Senior Associate Director of Corporate Contracts will be responsible for helping to structure, negotiate and manage the facilitation of research agreements for the Corporate Contracts and Alliances Group in close coordination with the licensing and new business development groups in the Center for Innovation. Primary duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: deputizing for Director of Corporate Contracts and Alliances in his/her absence or at his/her delegation; coordinating closely with Corporate Alliance, Licensing and New Ventures colleagues to draft, review, negotiate and finalize research contracts with industrial partners, including, but not limited to sponsored research, collaboration, data sharing, tangible research materials, material transfer, corporate service, program consulting, non-disclosure and integrated partnership agreements; Work closely with Corporate Alliances, Licensing and New Business Development officers to identify new opportunities for corporate research alliances and commercialization related agreements; Work in partnership with licensing officers and Corporate Alliances outreach officers to review, consider, modify and incorporate, as necessary, non-standard IP related provisions during contract drafting and negotiation; Coordinate and problem solve within the Corporate Alliances Group, other divisions of the Center for Innovation, Office of Clinical Research, Office of Research Services and Penn Departments/Schools regarding issues associated with corporate agreements and funding sources; Provide effective direction and guidance to colleagues, clients and stakeholders regarding navigating Penn's research administration function. Qualifications Master's degree required, M.D., Ph.D., J.D. or equivalent doctoral degree strongly preferred, plus 7-10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; previous experience in contract negotiation; understanding of research environment, preferably in higher education; excellent customer service skills; excellent oral and written communications skills; previous supervisory experience preferred; knowledge of Penn research administration systems and processes, including electronic research administration systems (e.g., Penn ERA and the Research Inventory System) preferred.
