Duties Reporting to Wharton Executive Director of Communications, the Director of New Media Communications is responsible for developing and implementing Schools public relations and communications strategies across multiple media channels including social networking sites, blogs, and other emerging communications platforms. Through the effective use of online media and social networking tools, this position will extend the Schools brand and communicate the Wharton experience to a global audience. The successful candidate will have experience in corporate communications and practical knowledge of the current generation of social communications platforms including Facebook, Linked In, Twitter, MySpace, YouTube, Flickr, social news sites, blog search engines, and social media
monitoring tools. In partnership with other divisions of the School and various project teams, this position will also lead the development of user-generated content, Web-based video, and viral marketing tools such including blogging, writing video scripts, arranging for video shoots and podcasts, and collaborating with students/staff/faculty to generate content. Attend Wharton events and take high quality photographs. Edit and catalogue photographs. Qualifications A Bachelor's Degree is required and 7 years to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have experience working with social networks and understand the impact they can have on higher education. Ability to develop and implement School's public relations and communications strategies across multiple media channels. Must be seen as expert in the field. Demonstrated ability to work across diverse groups. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Experience with semi-professional photography highly preferred.
