Job Description
The Division of Advancement is seeking a Development Associate for the College of Education to join their team. The incumbent will cultivate and solicit gifts in support of their assigned projects and initiatives, including high-end annual donors, sponsorship donors of $10,000 and above, and prospects for major and planned gifts. An emphasis will be on tasks related to prospecting and performing development activities in the form of personal contacts with individuals, corporations, and foundations for cultivating and soliciting financial support for assigned university initiatives and college/school priorities, including one signature fund-raising event per year. The incumbent will coordinate with supervisor to design, plan and implement a development program to foster and enhance the development opportunities and successes for their area.
Additional responsibilities of the Development Associate include, but are not limited to:
* Identify and qualify prospects for the university through initiative and own efforts
* Cultivate existing donors capable of increased levels of participation
* Make direct solicitations for support from individuals, corporations, and foundations, including new gifts and increased levels of gifts from existing donors
* Maintain an active prospect list of at least 150 prospects to contact on a regular basis
* Coordinate the flow of prospect and donor information and billing with the records coordinator
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree and two years of professional experience in marketing, fundraising, event planning, public relations, or communications; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
**Must have a valid Texas driver's license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.**
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* Attention to detail
* Ability to multitask
* Knowledge of fundraising or marketing principles
* Knowledge of or aptitude to learn software programs such as Excel, Access and desktop publishing
* Effective oral and written communication skills
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals at all levels of the institution and with the public
