The University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) seeks an exceptional individual with vision, dynamic and innovative leadership skills, and an impeccable record of achievement to become its next Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. The next Provost will help lead a university with a core mission dedicated to learning through the integration of teaching, research, and service.

The successful candidate will function as the Chief Operations Officer (COO) with responsibility for ensuring that the organizational structures, processes, personnel, and daily routines of campus life support the university’s mission. This person must be a motivating team leader who functions effectively in a fast-paced environment; has the ability to manage a complex academic organization; will work effectively and collegially with all members of the campus community; promotes shared governance; demonstrates excellent communication skills; and is able to provide sound judgment and decisive leadership that impacts the university and its stakeholders. This senior officer has broad, dual responsibilities in both academics and administration and reports to the chancellor.

Candidates should have a record of distinguished research/scholarship and teaching consistent with standards of the faculty and the requirements for appointment as professor with tenure at UNCW. An earned doctorate in an academic discipline (or appropriate terminal degree) from an accredited institution is required.
