Position Summary: Position serves to coordinate and advise the principal investigtors of these diverse research activities with respect to study design, sample collection and transport procedures, technician training and quality assurance for diagnostic testing, test reagent and kit pricing and ordering, data recording and reporting. This research administration position requires a Masters degree in Microbiology or related field with 5 or more years laboratory experience in clinical microbiology, and expertise in nucleic acid amplification technology. In addition, the position requires knowledge of international shipping regulations, expertise in ordering supplies, equipment and related materials for biomedical research studies plus occasional domestic and international travel to inspect and advise study sites and assist in training laboratory personnel.
Education Requirements: Masters in Microbiology or related field or BS with Medical Technology Certification.
Qualification and Experience: Candidate must have extensive knowledge of clinical and basic infectious diseases research including molecular and clinical microbiology, clinical quality control and assurance, data entry and database maintenance. Experience in STD diagnostic testing including LCR, PCR, ELISA, Western Blot, bacterial culture, and microscopy with the ability to train others in these techniques is essential. At least 5 years laboratory experience. Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
