Department: School of Pharmacy
Position Summary: The Hathaway laboratory within the Division of Chemical Biology and Medicinal Chemistry (CBMC), UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, seeks a motivated and talented Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team. Our lab focuses on understanding the biological events responsible for dynamically regulating the selective expression of the mammalian genome. The lab is positioned at the interface between chemistry and biology and utilizes new chemically-mediated tools wielding an unprecedented level of temporal control to visualize changes in chromatin structure and function in mammalian cells and animal models. In addition, we seek to identify small molecule inhibitors that are selective for chromatin regulatory enzymes with the potential for future human therapeutics. For more information on the lab, please see our website: http://pharmacy.unc.edu/Directory/natehat/@@profile.
Education Requirements: Candidates must have a strong academic track record, work well in a goal-oriented team setting, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Additionally, candidates must have a PhD, PharmD, and/or MD degree by appointment date.
Qualification and Experience: Experience with mammalian cell culture, basic biochemical and molecular biology techniques are required. Background in cell biology, chemical biology, or chromatin biology is preferred. Experience with modern experimental techniques used by the lab such as chromatin immunoprecipitation and analysis, fluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, embryonic stem cell culture, etc. will be an advantage to the applicant.
