Position Summary:

The Division of Hematology/Oncology, Department of Medicine is seeking to recruit a research faculty member for an open-rank position. A research focus in sickle cell disease, hemoglobinopathies or red blood cell physiology is required. Candidate will be responsible for implementing and directing all aspects of independent laboratory function, productivity and funding. He/she will be expected to work closely with physicians and help coordinate and facilitate laboratory support for ongoing clinical studies. The candidate will ensure that all laboratory research studies are conducted within the framework of the university and personnel are in compliance with established safety requirements of the university. He/she will be responsible for training and implementation of the laws, guidelines and local requirements regarding the ethical conduct of research using human subject.

Education Requirements:

Candidates must have doctoral degree (M.D., DVM, or Ph.D(.

Qualification and Experience:

The candidate must have completed at least 3-4 years of post-doctoral training. The candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in translation research, a track record of productive collaboration with physician scientists, and demonstrated success at the procurement of extramural funding. A strong publication record and experience in the field of sickle cell disease research and/or erythrocyte physiology is desirable.
