Position Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking an individual for a fixed term faculty position in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. Responsibilities will include providing advanced emergency medical care to ill and injured children in the Pediatric Emergency Department (PED) at the NC Children’s Hospital.
The PED is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, offering a full range of primary, tertiary and quaternary subspecialty care 18 hours a day, seven days a week. This trauma center is among only 6 percent of emergency departments nationwide that have all the specialized equipment needed to treat children and adolescents. The PED is a component of the Emergency Department at UNC Hospitals, which treats about 65,000 patients annually, nearly 14,000 of which are children and adolescents under the age of 18. About one-third of all inpatient admissions to North Carolina Children’s Hospital enter via the Emergency Department.
The ideal candidate will be BC/BE in Pediatric Emergency Medicine with previous experience working in an academic environment. Demonstrated expertise in quality improvement is strongly preferred. Rank and salary will be commensurate with training, experience, and academic accomplishments.
