Position Summary:
The Department of Pediatrics of the University of North Carolina is seeking a Chief to lead the Division of Genetics and Metabolism and to expand the Division’s scope and research activity. The successful candidate will be an established investigator in an area of pediatric genetics with board certifications in Pediatrics and Clinical Genetics. The Division Chief reports directly to the Chair of the Department of Pediatrics. Strong preference will be shown to candidates who are nationally known investigators with evidence of administrative and teaching experience in pediatric genetics. Rank will be commensurate with training, experience, and academic accomplishments.
In leading and developing a research focus for the division, there is great opportunity for collaborations with the Department of Genetics and the Carolina Center for Genome Sciences. All research programs at UNC have access to support from the NC Translational and Clinical Sciences Institute, the home of the UNC CTSA.
In addition to developing a research program, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to expand the scope of clinical care provided to children at the NC Children’s Hospital and the State of North Carolina and will play a significant role in developing the teaching program for medical students, pediatric residents and other learners at UNC. The Division Chief will be expected to provide leadership for the Department of Pediatrics and the NC Children’s Hospital with State leaders in Medicaid and the Department of Health and Human Services.
Education Requirements:
MD, board certifications in Pediatrics and Clinical Genetics.
Qualification and Experience:
