Position Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to support the UNC research mission by providing the needed leadership to create and maintain research team activities. Teams will be made up of investigators and others from UNC and across the state, but also individuals from non-profits, industry partners, public private partnerships, as well as CTSAs, and others around the country. This position's time is totally focused on pulling together appropriate teams of investigators and others, from all areas of research and locale and working with them to write proposals to submit to funding sponsors. Grant opportunities are vast and will include federal, non-profit and for profit. Position will work with research navigators and others to identify the best teams for funding opportunities, prepare, draft and edit proposals, write letters of support as well as other documents and keep teams on track so as to meet the goal at hand. Position will manage NC TraCS grant support staff. Will gather, utilize, and share with others available tools and resources in order to move team science activities forward. Will provide grants management and career development training, i.e., seminars, workshops; one-on-one, or with teams to help increase the knowledge of grantsmanship to junior investigators and others
Education Requirements: Minimum education: Masters or PhD or MD PhD in health affairs, public health, business management or related field required.
Qualification and Experience: Expertise in building partnerships, identification of funding sources, grants research, program and budget development, and preparation of complex written and electronic grant submissions. Possess excellent people, organizational and verbal interpersonal skills. Ability to work as a member of a team and independently and effectively across departments schools, handling multiple projects, and under the pressure of deadlines for grant opportunities. Extensive experience in analysis and interpretation of the regulations and procedures of federal grant agencies, non-profit and for profit sponsors, UNC grants administration, regulations, policies and procedures, and the ability to clearly and effectively communicate these regulations policies procedures to investigators. . Must be able to administer and manage large-scale projects in accordance with federal agency and UNC grant administration business practices and operations. Extensive experience is needed in writing, editing, and document information and financial management, including grant budget creation and analysis. Strong leader with at least 10 years experience in obtaining funding and teaching grantsmanship, at every level, is a must.
