Position Summary:
This position has primary responsibility for long-range and strategic planning and development; facility and research support operations; computing infrastructure planning and operations; and intellectual property management for a top-twenty, research-intensive department with an annual budget in excess of $20 million. In addition, serves in an advisory capacity to the chair on the finance and administrative direction of the department. The department has 68 faculty (26 tenure track, 3 non-tenure track teaching faculty, 6 fixed-term research and 33 adjunct), 22 SPA staff, 2 post-docs/EPA research staff and approximately 150 graduate students and is housed in two buildings with a total square footage of 130,262. The position reports to the Department Chair.
Additional duties include:
• Management of a complex Computer Services Recharge Center,
• Teaching of courses in Research Administration, Intellectual Property and/or Faculty Entrepreneurship, and
• Direct supervision of Information Technology Director and Director of Research Support and Communications.
Education Requirements:
A Masters degree is required (MPA, MBA, or related field), PhD or JD preferred.
Qualification and Experience:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated competency and at least five years experience at a senior management level with responsibility for planning/operations in a research, non-profit or academic setting.
