Position Summary: The Director of Development for Environment is a key member of an energetic advancement team and supports the mission of the UNC Institute for the Environment and is instrumental in planning and implementing fundraising efforts.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.
Qualification and Experience: The applicant should have experience in cultivating individual major gift donors; soliciting and closing gifts of 25,000 and above; with preference given to candidates with backgrounds in higher education or environmental fields. Leading candidates will have, at a minimum: Three to five years fundraising experience, with a preference to experience with individuals as prospects; ability to interact effectively in a comprehensive, research university setting; an effective background in the environmental field of endeavor; ability to work with Board members and other volunteers, faculty members, potential donors, and colleague university staff; ability to work as part of a dynamic team; strong written and oral communication skills.
