Position Summary:

THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH POLICY AND MANAGEMENT, UNC GILLINGS SCHOOL OF GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH, UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL invites applicants for a fixed term Clinical Assistant Professor position to teach courses in health care management, strategic planning and marketing, and participating in capstone courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Applications will be accepted and reviewed until the positions are filled. The anticipated start date is January 2, 2013 or when the positions are filled.

The Department is situated in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health with interdisciplinary investigators who generate about $100 million per year in external funding. The School is ranked second in the United States by U.S. News and World Report. UNC has 11 interdisciplinary institutes including the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research (http://www.shepscenter.unc.edu/) and the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (http://unclineberger.org/).

The faculty and students of the Department are multidisciplinary and engage in research that encompasses a wide array of topics including cancer, dental public health, mental health, children’s health, comparative effectiveness, and rural healthcare. Faculty come from varied backgrounds including finance, economics, decision sciences, policy, public administration, sociology, and other health management disciplines.

Education Requirements:

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree (MD, PhD,ScD)

Qualification and Experience:

Must have at least two years of teaching and advising students and interests relevant to health services management and policy. The Department offers the Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH), Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA), Master of Public Health (MPH), Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), Doctor of Public Health (DrPH), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees.
