Department: School of Government
Position Summary: The Associate Dean for Development serves as the chief development officer of the School of Government and has primary responsibility for all fund-raising activities of the School. The Associate Dean for Development reports directly to the Dean and is a member of the Dean's senior management team. In consultation with the Dean, the Associate Dean for Development is responsible for creating a strategic vision for the School's overall fund-raising program. The Associate Dean must develop strong relationships across the School with specific focus on faculty, marketing & communications, and finance. The Associate Dean also serves as the School's primary liaison with the UNC-Chapel Hill Development Office.
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.
Qualification and Experience: Minimum of seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience in the field of development, with a demonstrated record of accomplishments with respect to major gifts and corporate and foundation fundraising, and a demonstrated ability to launch and manage new comprehensive fund-raising programs working independently and with volunteers. Requires exceptional oral and written communications skills, along with ability to work efficiently on multiple projects. A familiarity with The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the State of North Carolina will be valued highly. The position requires frequent travel in the State of North Carolina and occasional evening and weekend work.
