Position Summary: The Associate Director of the Faculty Pipeline Initiative and Back to Carolina Program will take a leadership role in faculty recruitment and program development to foster a diverse faculty population at UNC School of Medicine. This position will be split evenly between the Pipeline and Back to Carolina initiatives and will report to the Executive Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs. The Associate Director will function as a liaison to identify and foster potential faculty recruits during and after completion of medical school, graduate school, residency, and fellowship programs. This position entails assisting in the recruitment of underrepresented minority faculty across the various academic units of the School of Medicine. High-performing underrepresented minorities who completed the graduate or professional degrees (MD and or PhD) at UNC will be encouraged to continue their education at UNC. The position will also facilitate the recruitment of high-performing underrepresented minorities who completed the graduate or professional degrees (MD and or PhD) at UNC to return to UNC after their residency and or fellowship at outside institutions to start a career in academic medicine. In conjunction with the Executive Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and the School's Diversity Officer, this position will function as a resource, advocate, and mentor to students, residents, fellows, and potential faculty recruits as they progress through the various stages of their training and transition to being a qualified faculty recruit. The Director will participate in communication efforts, program development, completion of the annual report, grants, newsletters, other publications, and news releases. She he will work closely with Health Career Pipeline Programs and the UNC MED Program to foster relationships and establish a foundation for the Faculty Pipeline Program.
Education Requirements: Minimum of a bachelor's degree in education, health science, or social science. Masters preferred.
Qualification and Experience: Experience in student affairs or health related program administration is highly desirable.
