Minimum Entry Rate: $10.00/hr-$10.34/hr

This dynamic department is currently seeking a Culinary Professional I for the Food Zoo Dishroom. The selected candidate will work with a team of professionals supporting over 100 years of tradition and excellence. We are looking for a passionate professional who wants to work with the best equipment and the freshest local ingredients to create cutting edge menus and food. This position is responsible for training and supervising student dishroom staff. Specific duties include but are not limited to: providing accurate and skillful dishroom and kitchen cleaning; providing quality food preparation and service when required and receives deliveries from vendors; cleaning and sanitizing equipment and assists with inventories; communicating with all UDS staff; performing duties as a food handler, preparing coffee, juices, re-upping the soups, chilies, and the salad bar.
This position requires incumbent to develop: working knowledge of UDS mission statement, strategic plan, and Residential Dining Operating plans; working knowledge of UDS policies and procedures; ability to effectively work independently and as a team member.
Ability to communicate and work with a variety of clients
Good communication and guest service skills
Working knowledge of training and supervision
Working knowledge and experience in food service
The ability to remain productive in a fast-paced environment
Expert knowledge in operating a commercial dish machine and of cleaners and sanitizing solutions
Working knowledge of safe and effective food handling and preparation
Expert knowledge of food safety practices and procedures
ServSafe certified. Current knowledge of UDS Receiving policies and procedures
Excellent communication and guest service skills
The ability to remain productive in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member
