Reporting directly to the Provost, the Vice Chancellor provides vision and leadership to the Division of Student Affairs.
The Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs serves as the University of Mississippi’s chief student affairs officer. Reporting directly to the Provost, the Vice Chancellor provides vision and leadership to the Division of Student Affairs which includes the following departmental units: Admissions; Registrar’s Office; Enrollment Services (undergraduate recruitment, orientation and parent programs); Financial Aid; Career Center; Office of International Programs; University Counseling Center; Student Housing and Residence Life; University Health Services; University Police Department; Office of the Dean of Students (Greek Affairs, Student Conduct, Student Organizations, Multi-cultural Affairs and Volunteer Services); Campus Recreation; Campus Programming; and the Luckyday Scholarship Program.
• The Vice Chancellor is responsible for maintaining a student-centered campus, developing and implementing policies and procedures consistent with best practices, and collaborating with campus colleagues to improve student retention and graduation rates.
• The Vice Chancellor leads efforts to provide programs and services to enhance the overall student experience and to complement and support the academic mission of the University.
The University seeks a dynamic leader who has a doctoral degree from a regionally accredited university; a record of progressive and visionary leadership with at least five years of administrative experience in student affairs at a college or university; a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external constituents; skill in budget preparation and fiscal management; outstanding communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a team-oriented environment; and a demonstrated record of integrity and commitment to equality and diversity.
The University of Mississippi was chartered by the Mississippi Legislature in 1844 and opened its doors to 80 students in 1848. Total enrollment on The University of Mississippi's campuses, including The University of Mississippi Medical Center, is 20,844, which has increased an average of over 5% per year since 2008. Sixty-seven percent of all students are from Mississippi, and 24 percent of students are minorities. Finances: Operating budget is $1.838 billion; total endowment is $469 million; payroll is $876 million; and financial aid is $209.6 million. The Division of Student Affairs has more than 200 employees and an annual operating budget of approximately $35 million.
