Special Assistant for Strategic Communications - University Relations
The University of Massachusetts Lowell seeks a highly experienced senior communications professional in the Office of University Relations to play an important role in developing strategic materials and advising senior leadership, faculty and staff on effective communications strategies.
Produce speeches, talking points, white papers, op-ed pieces and other high-level written materials on behalf of the University, including the executive cabinet and other senior administrators.
Work with the Director of Media Relations to place op-eds, essays and similar copy in regional and national media outlets.
Identify and implement new media opportunities and strategies.
Advise administrators, faculty and staff on effective communications strategies.
Meet regularly with the Vice Chancellor for University Relations and the Chancellor to review communications strategies and identify ways to further increase effective communications for the University.
Generate ideas and recommendations for advancing the University's strategic goals which increase the visibility and profile of the University and help attract high quality faculty, staff and students.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):
-Bachelor's degree in English, journalism or similar field
-At least 15 years experience in journalism
-Excellent written and verbal skills
-Demonstrated understanding of public policy and higher education issues
-Ability to produce copy quickly and accurately on deadline
-The ability to work effectively with diverse groups
